We are Stephen Levinson and Joel Moss Levinson, a pair of comedian brothers from Dayton, Ohio. Joel is a commercial director and online video guy, Stephen is a staff writer for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Together we’ve produced a lot of online video content and this page is a chance to highlight some of the stuff we’re proudest of.
We created, produced and directed an animated web pilot called “Noah’s Ark,” starring Marc Maron (WTF Podcast, “Maron”) as Noah, the man with the worst job in the history of the world, Jonathan “Dr. Katz” Katz as his boss – you know, God, and featuring Maria Bamford (Comedians of Comedy, Arrested Development) as some Ark-ly characters.
In addition to his latest work as a monologue writer on The Tonight Show, Stephen wrote for the Fusion Network under former head writer of The Daily Show, DJ Javerbaum, on his show “Good Morning, Today,” a morning show set in an alternative universe where digital puppets live. It was awesomely weird. Here’s a segment he wrote and produced featuring his idol “Weird” Al Yankovic and another with the hilarious Ken Jeong.
In 2013 and 2014, we created a monster comedy/musical/charity album to benefit the charity OneKid OneWorld, called “2776” to which rode the Billboard Comedy Charts, and featured dozens of comedians and musicians including Will Forte, Aubrey Plaza, Patton Oswalt, Ed Helms, Aimee Mann, Reggie Watts, Ira Glass, Martha Plimpton, Will Arnett, kd lang, Yo La Tengo, Eric Johnson, Ashanti, Paul F. Tomkins, Neko Case and many many more. It detailed the story of the first 1000 years of American history, past, present and sci-fi inflected future through sketches and songs, some of which became videos.
Joel started his online career winning video contests online, which he turned into a profile on the front page of the New York Times and a guest spot on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Since then, he’s had contest winning videos and ads appear all over the internet and national TV, including some with him on-screen as well. This debate parody spot for Trojan Condoms was featured on the front page of Ad Week.
And we were invited to give a TedX Talk about the art of collaboration, which we think went really well.
These days we’re working on producing our first feature length comedy movie, were recently announced as finalists in the Nashville Screenwriting Contest for our comedy “Wingman,” and are trying to raise our kids as best we can.
